Elizabeth Powley is the founder of Every Child. The vision for the organization grew out of her background as an educator and her commitment to the Great Lakes region of Africa. Elizabeth has more than fourteen years experience in non-profit leadership and program development. Most recently, she directed the Rwanda Project of The Initiative for Inclusive Security, which provided technical and financial support to the women in Rwanda’s parliament. An expert in post-conflict development, she has developed education and training programs in Angola, Burundi, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Rwanda, and Uganda. She is a former high school history teacher. Elizabeth holds a B.A. in history from Grinnell College and a Master’s degree from American University’s School of International Service.
